Community Leadership

• Leader of the March Against Youth Violence in October of 1994, which led to the creation and funding of the Commission on the Prevention of Youth Violence
• Member of negotiating team that met with the administration of Western Michigan University after minority student walkout in February 1995
• Host of the first community police forum, May 1996
• Co-organizer of the Thousand Men March, June 8, 1996
• Former 1st Vice-President NAACP, Kalamazoo Metro branch
• Teacher in the National Baptist Sunday Church School and Baptist Training Union Congress, NMBCA

• Former President of the Congress of Christian Workers, of the General Baptist State Convention of Michigan
• President, North Side Ministerial Alliance of Kalamazoo since May of 1998
• Initiated the MLK Endowment with over $25,000 at the Kalamazoo Community Foundation
• Developed the African American Health Initiative, with an annual budget of over $125,000
• Received $180,000 in grants for the ERACCE program, (Eradicating Racism and Claiming and Celebrating Equality) from ELCA
• Received the Compassion Capital Fund grant for $3.5 million for the Northside Ministerial Alliance, from 2003-2006
• Increased attendance at the annual MLK celebration from 400 people to over 2,000 at WMU Miller auditorium
• Founder of the Third Millennium Ministry
• Recipient of the Star Award for Community Leadership, 1999
• Member of the Community Block Grant Disbursement Committee
• Chaplain of the Kalamazoo department of Public Safety; Host the annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Day
• Received honorary Doctorate of Divinity degree from St. Thomas Christian College in April 2004
• Preached the opening night of the 78th COGIC Holy Convocation in Memphis, Tennessee (November 5, 1985), as guest of the late Bishop C. L. Anderson, Jr.
• Speaker at the COGIC Pre-Celebration Reunion at Cobo Hall, Detroit, Michigan, September 3, 2007 at the invitation of the Presiding Bishop of the Church of God In Christ International, Bishop Charles E. Blake
• Guest Speaker at West Angeles Cathedral in Los Angeles, California, August 17, 2008, Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake, pastor
• Keynote speaker at the COGIC Leadership Conference, Birmingham, Alabama – January 18, 2011

Pastor Felton is married to First Lady Priscilla E. Felton who also works diligently in the church and community.
