Achievements–
Mount
Airy Church of God In Christ was founded as a tiny storefront
mission with a congregation of 16 Sunday school children in May 1966.
June
2003, at the church’s 37th Anniversary,
Mount Airy Church of God In Christ had grown to a landmark church
numbering more than three-thousand persons, with an uniquely tax-reaching
ministry.
The roster
of working auxiliaries and ministries numbers more than seventy,
and includes such visionary ministries as the following:

Mt. Airy owned
and operated Bethesda Manor, a full shelter for
more than one hundred ninety (190) homeless men, providing medical
treatment, drug therapy and rehabilitation and vocational training,
along with a special program for returning ex-offenders to the
community.
The ministry
continue with the Stenton Manor, a full family
shelter which houses and provides counseling and skill training
for more than two hundred fifty(250) abused and displaced women
and children, the church served more than two hundred seventy
(270) welfare to work women.
Bishop Morris
completed the construction of a magnificent three-thousand (3000)
seat sanctuary on a 4 ½ acre site and a 36,000 ministry
building, housing executive offices, chapel and approximately
35 classrooms, dining and assembly halls, we are now beginning
phase 3 construction on a gymnasium as a hub for the sport’s
centered activities of the community.
Bishop
Morris serves on the steering committee and is one of
the founding members of Project Nehemiah, and
the Philadelphia Interfaith Action Committee. Project Nehemiah
is a consortium of churches that join together to build large
tracts of affordable housing in blighted areas of the City of
Philadelphia. To date this group has been responsible for building
hundreds of houses in the inner city, as well as providing job-training
programs for youth and adults.
From its inception,
Mount Airy Church of God in Christ under the spiritual and dynamic
leadership of this God-gifted Pastor has been called a, “Miracle
Church”. Moving from location to location, outgrowing, moving,
building, burning mortgage after mortgage, in record-breaking
time. Bishop Morris has expanded and remodeled site after site
without incurring loans, while at the same time expanding ministries
to include full and part-time staff of one hundred (100), and
an annual budget in excess of ($5,000,000.00) marking Mt. Airy
and its (CDC) one of the largest employers in the community. Mt.
Airy is applying for a Charter to pen a unique elementary school
in September 2004.

and Organizations
Although
he is a nationally known and sought after lecturer, conference/convention
speaker and teacher, Bishop Morris continues to be humble, prayerful,
and dedicated servant of the people, who is ever seeking ways
to serve God as he serves his people. A man of untiring energy,
who gives of himself to his community.
Bishop Morris
serves on numerous boards, advisory committee and councils including:

and served as the President-Elect of Black
Clergy of Philadelphia and Vicinity.

Morris is the compiler and author of numerous
pamphlets, manuals, study guides and seminar packages on Church
Growth, Leadership Training, Discipleship, and Secrets
of Successful Ministry.
Personal
Bishop
Morris and his wife, Winifred W. Morris,
a nationally known speaker, lecturer, and seminar leader in her
own right, are the parents of four children: Tanya (Mrs. Clifford
Bardliving), Carla (Mrs. Samuel L. Greene), Ernest Jr. and Jennifer.
They are the proud grandparents of four: Cameron, Amber, Christopher
and Stephanie.
